If we’ve learned anything from the past couple of years, it’s that community is everything. A strong business community can transform an entire city into a friendly, welcoming, and exciting home. And the business community of Roswell, Georgia, is one such community—making Roswell one of the best places to live in Georgia.
Roswell is a historic and charming city in northern Fulton County, located just 30 minutes north of Atlanta, Georgia. Nearby towns include Alpharetta, Marietta, Woodstock, and more.
“It is the friendliest place I’ve been…and I’ve lived all over the country!” said David Landsman, a local realtor and long-time resident of Roswell. Roswell is home to over 90,000 residents and is the ninth-largest city in Georgia, but its quaint small-town feel makes it immediately feel like home. “Roswell, Georgia is the place to be right now,” says David.
What makes Roswell’s business community so great?
Great access to the community
The city of Roswell is very active and dedicated to creating a positive experience for its residents. The city is dedicated to many projects that beautify the city, create green space for families, and make it easy to hit the town. As a result, there are more than 20 green spaces in Roswell, including bike paths, walking paths, playgrounds, parks, and more. Also, the city frequently hosts events for families around town and closes some downtown streets for pedestrians once per month.
Strong foundation for businesses to thrive
In the early 1800s, many businesses came to Roswell to set up shop along the waterways and establish mills. This made Roswell an ideal place for businesses to thrive, which attracted more residents and growth. This set the stones for a strong business community that is still thriving today.
There are a lot of great local businesses in Roswell, including awesome restaurants, great shopping, family-friendly activities, and fun nightlife.
What is the Roswell business community like?
Jenna Aronowitz, owner of the 1920 Tavern, is a dedicated member of the Roswell business community. Jenna is from South Africa but she and her husband chose Roswell for their business because of the community. “We absolutely love the community here,” Jenna said. “It’s a really unique, tight-knit, loving, and caring community. Everyone takes care of each other and is very hospitable.” The 1920 Tavern represents the strong and vibrant community of Roswell. The restaurant’s menu is made entirely from scratch and all of the ingredients are brought in fresh daily (there is no food storage in the kitchen). The menu also accommodates any dietary need, such as vegetarian or gluten-free.
Another local business owner is Spirit Lala, owner of Spirited Boutiques. Spirited is a unique clothing boutique in downtown Roswell. One of the things that makes Spirited unique is that they make almost all of the jewelry and artwork that they sell. Another thing that makes Spirited unique and gives it its charm is that it is in a historic old service station. Shoppers can meander around the nooks and crannies of the store and enjoy the character of the building. There are other locations of Spirited Boutiques in Woodstock, Marietta, and Alpharetta, but the Roswell location is the most interesting store because it captures the energy, history, people, and community feel of Roswell.
Another business that captures the community of Roswell is the Oak Street Bottle Shop, owned by Scott Harb. Oak Street is a wine, beer, and spirits store—but it is no ordinary store. Oak Street also hosts live music and family events, and Scott welcomes everyone to his store with open arms. At Oak Street, you can always bring large groups or even your entire family to come and enjoy. Scott gives all his patrons special attention and makes a point to build strong relationships with everyone, so they feel at home. Oak Street also hosts a weekly Bibles and Brews bible study session.
